I took the pain to summarize SONA 2025 and extract portions of the President’s Commitment to Ashanti Region!
In the 2025 State of the Nation Address (SONA), President John Dramani Mahama reaffirmed the government’s strong commitment to the development of the Ashanti Region, outlining targeted interventions in key sectors.
✅ Infrastructure & GETFund Projects
The government will reallocate resources to complete stalled GETFund educational and health projects in Ashanti to ensure the region benefits from accelerated development. (Ref: SONA, Page 45-46)
✅ Education: Expanding Access & Enhancing Quality
The government will complete stalled secondary and tertiary education projects, conduct feasibility studies for a new public university, and improve the Free SHS policy by addressing food supply issues and eliminating the double-track system. (Ref: SONA, Page 50-53)
✅ Roads & Transportation
Under the Big Push infrastructure agenda, key roads in Kumasi and across Ashanti will undergo major rehabilitation. The government will also reintroduce modern tolling systems to fund road maintenance. (Ref: SONA, Page 70-72)
✅ Healthcare & Disease Control
The government will expand healthcare facilities, revamp stalled hospital projects, and ensure access to free primary healthcare in Ashanti. Immediate measures are also in place to tackle cholera outbreaks in the region. (Ref: SONA, Page 62-65)
✅ Agriculture & Economic Growth
The Feed Ghana Programme will benefit farmers in Ashanti, with direct support for cocoa farmers and poultry producers to boost local food production and reduce imports. (Ref: SONA, Page 47-49)
✅ Energy & Power Stability
The government will resolve recurring power supply issues and enforce sector reforms to ensure stable electricity for homes, businesses, and industries in Ashanti. (Ref: SONA, Page 57)
