A storm is brewing on social media after Obenfo Nana Kwasi Gyetuah, the outspoken Executive Director of the Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS), exposed what he described as a shocking display of waste and irresponsibility by state authorities.

In a viral Facebook post, the education advocate revealed that while driving along the Kumasi–Accra highway yesterday, he was stunned to see a water tanker actively spraying water on the newly constructed Pokuase–Nsawam road, even as heavy rain poured down.

“Yesterday, while driving on the Kumasi-Accra road, I was surprised to see a water tanker watering the newly constructed Pokuase-Nsawam road despite the heavy rain,” he wrote.

“It’s astonishing that public funds are being used in such a manner, especially when the dusty conditions that necessitated the watering no longer exist.”

Gyetuah’s post has ignited a heated public debate, with many Ghanaians slamming what they call reckless misuse of taxpayers’ money under the current administration.

Critics say the incident is symbolic of a much deeper issue; poor supervision, wasteful contracts, and lack of accountability in government projects.

The GNACOPS Director minced no words in calling for transparency and reform, demanding that government agencies stop turning a blind eye to inefficiency and corruption.

“This incident highlights the need for accountability and transparency in the management of public funds,” he added.

“We should demand better from our authorities and contractors to ensure that resources are utilized efficiently and effectively.”

The timing of this revelation couldn’t be more politically charged. With growing public frustration over economic hardship and alleged mismanagement, many see the incident as yet another example of disconnect between government officials and the realities faced by ordinary Ghanaians.

As of press time, neither the Ministry of Roads and Highways nor the Ghana Highways Authority has commented on the alleged misuse of resources. Meanwhile, Ghanaians online are demanding answers and accountability from those in charge.
