President John Dramani Mahama’s vow to complete the Accra–Kumasi Highway dualisation and launch an entirely new expressway within three years has drawn a measured but revealing reaction from Bantama MP Francis Asenso-Boakye.

While outwardly supportive, the MP’s statement shared on his official Facebook page subtly exposes the sheer scale of what the President is promising.

Asenso-Boakye breaks down the numbers with clinical precision:

  • 46km of bypasses at Osino, Anyinam–Enyiresi and Konongo must be finished, despite still sitting at 72% completion.
  • A huge 94km section of the corridor remains un-dualised and must be tackled almost from scratch.

By placing these figures front and centre, the MP reframes the national conversation, not around presidential optimism, but around the stark engineering and financial realities that Ghanaians must not lose sight of.

His message reads less like applause and more like a reality check: the President’s vision is welcome, yes, but it comes with an infrastructure bill and workload that will test the government’s capacity, discipline and continuity.

Asenso-Boakye may have signed off with a diplomatic “Godspeed,” in his message but the subtext is unmistakable—ambition is commendable, delivery is what counts.
