Former Minister for Energy and leading New Patriotic Party (NPP) figure, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has once again placed himself at the center of international dialogue on Africa’s economic transformation.

Participating in the US–Africa Business Week 2025, held on the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly, Dr. Prempeh, widely known as Napo met with high-level policymakers and business leaders to discuss strategies for strengthening trade and innovation across the continent.

In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, Dr. Prempeh revealed that he engaged with, among others, the Minister of Energy and Minerals of Congo, to explore opportunities for collaboration aimed at driving Africa’s industrial growth and sustainable prosperity.
“The creativity and resilience on display reaffirmed that Africa’s growth will be powered by its people and by businesses built on innovation and partnerships, working towards shared prosperity,” he stated.

Dr. Prempeh’s comments reflect a consistent theme in his public engagements, self-reliance, innovation, and partnership-driven development, echoing the broader NPP narrative of enterprise-led growth.
Political analysts see Napo’s growing international visibility as part of a broader strategy to strengthen his credentials on the global stage, particularly as discussions within the NPP continue to intensify around the party’s future leadership direction.
His participation at a major global economic forum underscores his reputation as a technocrat with a keen interest in energy, trade, and youth-driven innovation.
Dr. Prempeh emphasized that Africa’s shared prosperity depends on empowering local businesses, unlocking potential, and building enduring partnerships between Africa and the world.
As 2025 unfolds, Dr. Prempeh’s engagements both locally and internationally are being closely watched, with some political watchers interpreting his active global presence as an effort to project leadership readiness and a forward-looking development agenda.
