The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has issued a second evacuation notice to clear the Santasi Roundabout–Asokwa Interchange corridor for the ongoing dual-carriage road construction project.
In a statement released by its Public Relations Unit, the Assembly urged all occupants along the stretch particularly car dealers, mechanics, taxi operators, squatters, owners of temporary structures, traders, and billboard operators who are yet to relocate to voluntarily vacate the area by January 20, 2026 to allow smooth progress of the redevelopment works.
The Assembly recalled that in an earlier notice dated September 24, 2025, affected persons were directed to vacate the area by November 1, 2025.
Despite repeated reminders, KMA noted that some occupants have failed to comply with the directive.
According to the Assembly, construction of the dual-carriage road from Santasi to the Asokwa Interchange has already commenced, making full cooperation from the public critical to ensuring the project is completed on schedule.
As part of preparatory works, engineers from the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) have begun relocating utility installations along the corridor.
The Assembly appealed to residents and business operators to support the engineers to facilitate the swift execution of their tasks.
KMA further advised owners of affected garages and facilities to contact the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), the Physical Planning Department, and Urban Roads for assistance and possible reallocation.
The Assembly emphasized that compliance with the evacuation directive is essential to avoid delays and ensure the timely completion of the critical road infrastructure project, which is expected to improve traffic flow and enhance urban mobility within the metropolis.
