The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced the ongoing refurbishment of the VIP Lounge at the Kotoka International Airport, describing it as a strategic effort to enhance Ghanaβs image to the international community.

InΒ a statement shared on his official Facebook page, the Minister said he stopped by the VIP Lounge on Saturday while on his way to a Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) retreat to inspect the progress of the project.

He noted that the VIP block, which falls under the supervision of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is undergoing a modern transformation to meet international standards.

According to Hon. Ablakwa, the VIP Lounge often serves as the first point of contact for high-profile guests, diplomats, investors, and eminent tourists, making it essential for Ghana to project a positive and impressive image from the moment such visitors arrive.

He emphasized that the refurbishment project is being undertaken at no cost to the Ghanaian taxpayer, explaining that funding was secured through corporate sponsorships as part of corporate Ghanaβs social responsibility and support for President John Dramani Mahamaβs Reset Agenda.
The Foreign Affairs Minister disclosed that the project is expected to be completed within four months. Upon completion, local creative professionals will be engaged to give the facility a distinctive Ghanaian outlook, showcasing the countryβs rich culture and artistic talent.
Additionally, Hon. Ablakwa revealed plans for the VIP Lounge to serve exclusively Made-in-Ghana food, a move aimed at promoting the local culinary industry and supporting indigenous businesses.
HeΒ concluded his statement with a call to national pride, reaffirming his commitment to service βFor God and Country.β
