The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has taken another decisive step toward operationalizing the Affirmative Action (Gender Equity) Act, 2024 (Act 1121) with the review of the draft Legislative Instrument (L.I.) by the Technical Working Group Committee.

The meeting, chaired by the Minister, Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, brought together members of the Technical Working Group to assess the draft regulations and incorporate insights from the Office of the Attorney-General.

The engagement forms part of the Ministry’s broader strategy to translate the provisions of the Affirmative Action Act into actionable measures that promote equal participation and representation across all sectors.
In her address, Hon. Dr. Lartey reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to advancing gender equity through collaborative governance. She commended the Technical Working Group for its dedication and the Attorney-General’s Department for its technical support in refining the draft L.I.

Highlighting key achievements since the Act’s passage, the Minister noted the inauguration of the Gender Equity Committee, the official launch of the Act, and the establishment of the Technical Working Group to steer regulatory development.
She urged continued collaboration among stakeholders to ensure the full and effective implementation of the Act, marking a significant milestone in Ghana’s pursuit of gender equality and social justice.
