Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, a.k.a Napo has sent a strong message to the Ashanti regional Minister in relation to the handling of traders who tragically lost their livelihoods in the recent fire outbreak at Adum PZ, Kumasi.
The NPP 2024 running mate to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has stated without mincing words that the Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene should exercise his authority over the traders and people in the region with a sense of compassion.
“I want to plead on the regional Minister that he should come to the realization that authority is exercised over people not on animals.
And so if God has given him authority, he should use that authority to help people.
The steps he takes with regards to the exercising of his authority should be the kind that will earn him a blessing not a curse.”
Napo made these bold statement at the time he was donating amount of GHs 150,000 and 600 bags of cement to support redevelopment devasted market on Monday.
The Spartan cum fire-brand political figure who is also Ghana’s former Energy Minister supported his advise with the reason that traders whose businesses were razed down by the merciless inferno somehow relate to personalities who have made donations to support the redevelopment of the area.
“Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was here and his tribesmen are among the affected traders. Hon. Kennedy Agyapong too has been here and some of his tribesmen too are also doing business here.
Even I relate to some of the traders whose shops were burnt by the fire and so we are all victims of this disaster.
I plead for patience. We don’t want any confusion. We want unity.”
Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh also appealed to government, urging them to implement proactive measures to prevent such unfortunate incidents from recurring in the future.
He also appealed to government to act with fairness and compassion, ensuring that the victims receive the justice and support they so rightfully deserve in this time of need.
