Vice President of the Republic, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to inclusive development during a high-level meeting with the United Nations leadership in Ghana.

The meeting, led by UN Resident Coordinator Mr. Zia Choudhury, centered on deepening collaboration on key national development priorities, including a proposed Women’s Bank initiative.

The Vice President, in a statement shared on her official Facebook page, noted that the UN delegation expressed strong interest in partnering with the government to accelerate progress on its broader development agenda.

“They also offered to collaborate on our Women’s Bank initiative,” she revealed, signaling potential multilateral backing for a flagship policy aimed at empowering women through financial access.

Expressing appreciation for the UN’s longstanding support to Ghana, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang emphasized that leadership must be measured by its impact on the most vulnerable.

“The ultimate purpose of leadership is to deliver justice for those who have fallen through the cracks,” she said.

Touching on policy direction, the Vice President advocated for solutions that are tailored to specific community needs rather than broad-stroke strategies.

She stressed the importance of using data not just during planning but throughout policy execution to ensure real-world outcomes align with intended goals.

“As we work together towards inclusive development and social justice, it is essential that our partnerships are grounded in data and deliver measurable improvements in people’s lives,” she added.

The engagement reflects the strengthening of ties between Ghana and the United Nations as both parties seek to promote sustainable, equitable growth and a more inclusive future for all Ghanaians.
