Ghana’s Vice President, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has expressed appreciation to MTN Ghana for its ongoing support of national development initiatives, particularly in the area of digital transformation and inclusion.
In a statement shared on her official Facebook page, she announced that she had hosted the leadership of MTN Ghana—led by CEO Stephen Blewett—at her office, where discussions focused on continued collaboration with government to advance access to digital services across the country.

“They stated their willingness to help with government initiatives, and I thanked them for their support,” she said.

The Vice President emphasized the need for MTN to further expand its connectivity infrastructure, especially to underserved and remote communities, in order to ensure that all Ghanaians have equal access to digital tools and services.

“I urged the company to extend improved connectivity to underserved and remote communities to ensure inclusive access to digital services,” she added.

She also praised MTN Ghana’s ongoing corporate social responsibility initiatives, particularly those that empower women and promote youth participation in technology.
Among the programs she highlighted were the Girls in ICT initiative, Robotics Training, and the Y’ellow Ladies program—an internal leadership initiative aimed at encouraging more women to take on senior roles within the company.
“I was pleased to learn about their ongoing initiatives… and I commended their Y’ellow Ladies program, which supports women to take on senior leadership roles,” the First Lady stated.
The meeting underscores the government’s continued commitment to partnering with the private sector to bridge Ghana’s digital divide and promote inclusive development through innovation, education, and gender empowerment.
