The Ashanti Regional office of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has shut down Champion International Hotel in Anyinam for operating without a valid license and failing to meet required industry standards.

As part of the enforcement, officials seized the keys to the hotel rooms and posted a closure notice at the main entrance. The action took place on Monday, July 28, 2025, as part of a month-long regulatory compliance operation.

Other hospitality establishments affected during this phase of the exercise included Nana Sarbeng Memorial Hotel in Dichemso, Chasfab Guest House in Kenyase, and Ayigya Hotel. These facilities are among 203 unlicensed enterprises identified across the region.

The enforcement followed a press conference held earlier that day at Miklin Hotel by GTA officials.

Several hostels in Ayeduase were also affected, including Linda Ville, Agyapong Appiah, and Saga City Hostels.

Frederick Adjei-Rudolph, the Ashanti Regional Director of the GTA, stated that the affected establishments failed to comply with the requirements set out in Legislative Instruments (L.I.) 2238 and 2239. He emphasized that the facilities would remain closed until they secure valid operational licenses from the GTA.

Adjei-Rudolph further warned that facility owners who do not take the necessary steps to regularize their operations risk arrest and prosecution in the coming days.
