The Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has called on Kumawood filmmakers to play a more deliberate role in promoting Ghanaβs image on the global stage.
Speaking in Kumasi as she commenced her Ashanti Regional Tour, the Minister highlighted the powerful influence of film in shaping international perceptions.

She encouraged producers and actors to showcase Ghanaβs natural beauty, rich culture and tourism attractions through compelling storytelling.

Hon. Gomashie held separate engagements with Kumawood actors, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), and stakeholders from the hospitality, fashion and tourism sectors. She acknowledged the Ashanti Regionβs significant contribution to Ghanaβs creative landscape, noting that its global visibility, driven largely by Kumawoodβprovides a strong foundation for further growth.

Stakeholders used the platform to raise key concerns, including taxation issues, the need for more international exchange programmes, and improved capacity-building opportunities for industry professionals.

The Minister assured them that these concerns had been duly noted and would inform ongoing policy interventions.
The regional tour continues with additional stakeholder meetings, as Hon. Gomashie is accompanied by Directors Dr. Jeoffrey Tamakloe and Divine Kwame Owusu Ansah.
