Founder and Leader of Open Arms Ministry, St. Sark, has urged the Inspector-General of Police, COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, to take decisive steps to guarantee maximum security during the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) upcoming flagbearer elections.

His call follows allegations by a key aspirant, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, a flagbearer hopeful, is allegedly planning to deploy 50 machomen in every constituency to influence the elections through intimidation and violence.

St. Sark noted that such claims, regardless of their veracity, require urgent attention from the Ghana Police Service.

Addressing journalists at his church premises on Wednesday, the clergyman said the stakes of the NPP’s internal contest make it imperative for the police to act proactively rather than reactively.

ā€œThese are serious allegations. The responsibility lies with the IGP to ensure that no individual or group is allowed to disrupt the process. The police must be visible and firm,ā€ he stated.

St. Sark cautioned aspirants against any attempt to use violence to gain political advantage, stressing that such actions undermine democratic principles and national cohesion.

He called on COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno to deploy adequate security personnel to all election centres and enforce law and order without fear or favour, adding that peaceful and credible internal elections are essential to sustaining public confidence in Ghana’s democracy.
