Controversial Kumasi-based cleric, St. Sark, has launched a blistering attack on the NDC-led government over its decision to downgrade the ongoing Kumasi interchange project from a four-tier to a three-tier design.

In a fiery outburst during a live TikTok broadcast from his church auditorium on Wednesday, the General Overseer of Open Arms Ministry issued a stern warning to the Ministry of Roads and Highways, declaring that any attempt to tamper with the original four-tier plan would be fiercely resisted.

“You dare not touch the four-tier plan. Follow the design the way you came to meet it, else I will not allow any contractor to do the project,” he thundered.

Clearly enraged, the self-styled “Spiritual President” of Ghana accused the government of deliberately shortchanging the people of Asanteman. He insisted that he would mobilize supporters to mount road barricades and physically obstruct contractors if work begins under the revised three-tier design.

St. Sark questioned what he described as the political wisdom of the NDC administration, expressing disbelief that a government he claims has a track record of impressive projects would approve what he considers a downgrade of a major infrastructure development in the Ashanti Region.
The outspoken cleric argued that the project, which he claims is about 45 percent complete, should not be altered midstream. According to him, any such modification amounts to a betrayal of the people.
“You keep underrating the office of the Spiritual President,” he fumed, directing his anger at the rank-and-file of the governing party.
The Minister for Roads and Highways, Hon. Kwame Agbodza, has reportedly justified the decision as a cost-effective, value-for-money adjustment.
The Minister cited concerns that several properties not captured in the initial project scope would be affected, potentially leading to significant compensation costs.
But St. Sark dismissed the explanation outright, describing it as “infantile” and devoid of logic.
“These reasons make no sense. They are infantile,” he insisted, signaling that he is prepared for a showdown should the government proceed with the revised plan.
The controversy has intensified public debate around the interchange project, with political tensions in the region expected to rise as government moves forward with its infrastructure agenda.
