Sierra Leone’s First Lady, Dr. Fatima Maada Bio, attended a historic and democratic National Town Hall Meeting with His Excellency, President Dr. Julius Maada Bio.
In recognition of the first anniversary of the democratic re-election of the President, the Ministry of Information and Civic Education organized a magnificent National Town Hall meeting at the Freetown International Conference Center, allowing citizens to voice their concerns and aspirations.
During this historic national conversation, Key topics such as the government’s “Big Five Game Changers,” which includes the Feed Salone project, investment in human capital development, youth empowerment and employment, public service architecture, and infrastructure development, were discussed in detail, with special emphasis on economic empowerment, the mining sector’s enhancement, peace, security, and the President’s consistent commitment to foster relations.
It is also important to note that this town hall meeting serves as a vital platform for democracy, enabling citizens to voice their concerns, ask questions, and receive direct responses from the President.
In Sierra Leone, where political engagement of this nature has historically been challenged by various factors, including civil unrest and economic difficulties, such initiatives are crucial for fostering transparency and accountability within the government.
The event attracted the presence of members of the first estate, civil society organizations, school-going pupils, market women, security forces, representatives from various political parties, and development partners.
The First Lady’s presence at this event showered her unflinching support towards her husband Agenda to transform Sierra Leone’s National development.
