Sierra Leone’s First Lady, Dr. Fatima Maada Bio, held a significant meeting with the President and Vice President of the Korean National Red Cross of the Republic of Korea. The meeting aimed to foster a stronger relationship between the Korean Red Cross and the Office of the First Lady of Sierra Leone, focusing on collaboration in the areas of sanitation and health, particularly for women and girls.

During the meeting, the President of the Korean national Red Cross commended Dr. Fatima Maada Bio for her outstanding work in championing the causes of sanitation and the health of women and girls in Sierra Leone. He acknowledged her tireless efforts and impactful initiatives, which have significantly improved the lives of many women and girls across the country.

The bilateral meeting provided an excellent platform for Her Excellency to advocate for continued support from the Korean Red Cross. She highlighted the ongoing needs in Sierra Leone, emphasising the critical importance of enhancing sanitation facilities and health services for women and girls. Dr. Fatima Bio expressed her gratitude for the Korean Red Cross’s existing support and underscored the positive impact of their contributions on the communities in Sierra Leone.

Dr. Fatima Maada Bio articulated her vision for the future, seeking to build on the successes achieved so far and to further strengthen the collaboration between the two entities. She emphasised the necessity of sustained efforts and international partnerships to address the pressing issues of sanitation and health, which are vital for the overall well-being and empowerment of women and girls.

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from the Korean National Red Cross to support the initiatives led by the Office of the First Lady of Sierra Leone. Both parties agreed on the importance of continued dialogue and cooperation to ensure the effective implementation of projects that will bring lasting benefits to the people of Sierra Leone.
