Her Excellency, Dr. Fatima Maada Bio In his keynote address, at the long-anticipated SLPP North America Annual Women’s Conference in Dallas, Texas, where she called the Party to action at the Alexis Hotel.

This momentous event which gathered the strong, patriotic, and committed members of the Sierra Leone People’s Party in America, proved to be well attended with various representatives of the party across different regions within the United States of America. The event served as a beacon call and an acute moment in time, to strategically re-group and strengthen party ties, while fostering their shared unity and a collective effort towards promoting the agenda and values of the ever-growing ruling Party.

During the event, H.E Dr. Fatima Maada Bio, First Lady and wife of President Dr. Julius Maada Bio, SLPP Leader and the democratically elected president of Sierra Leone, commended the consistent efforts of the Leadership of the SLPP USA and admirably applauded the executive of the SLPP North America, for organizing such a function.

The event’s atmosphere echoed with the new achievement of the First Lady; successfully leading the passing of the Prohibition of the Child Marriage Bill, and the Presidential Assent of the Bill by the President, which has secured a fighting chance for the children of Sierra Leone.

The newly established Prohibition of Child Marriage Act criminalizes the horrific and immoral union of Child Marriage by providing every child a fighting chance to thrive while staying in school through the Free Quality Education program of the Bio administration.

During the event, Madam Aminata Amara, the Women’s Leader of SLPP North America, welcomed the First Lady and thanked President Bio, while she reaffirmed the SLPP North America’s commitment towards the party and President Bio’s government.

“It is our responsibility to ensure that Sierra Leone is transformed through this current Government. If the President must succeed, then we must continue our unflinching, patriotic, and dedicated support towards his plans and that of the SLPP party for the nation”.

This shows a strong sense of unity and support within the SLPP party, with an elected sense of patriotism and devotion towards the President.

As a move to maintain unity and assurance of trust building, Dr. Fatima Maada Bio banked on patriotism and service, as she addressed the SLPP North America sect to take bold steps to ensure that the President Succeeds. She mentioned that the Sierra Leone People’s Party’s ability to return to power in the next election depends on the success of Her husband.

“SLPP will not have a fighting chance if we fail the people of Sierra Leone. Is it imperative that we foster our collective efforts and mobilize all our resources to ensure that my husband succeeds at all costs, by completely transforming the lives of the people of Sierra Leone! Let us worry less about the next election and put more emphasis on giving the people of Sierra Leone the key things we promised. These can be achieved through the five big game changers of President Bio’s government.

The conference climaxed as the First Lady called on its attendees to take action towards the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, that if child marriage must be omitted and eradicated in Sierra Leone, we must transcend beyond politics. She stated that we must all take collective action and make drastic interventions, to ensure that the newly passed law is implemented and executed to protect the future of our children in Sierra Leone, and the world at large.
