The Office of the First Lady of Sierra Leone is delighted to announce the upcoming visit by Jean Todt, the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Road Safety. This esteemed envoy will be meeting with Dr. Fatima Maada Bio, the First Lady of Sierra Leone, who holds a significant role as a member of the advisory board.
Amb.Jean Todt, a renowned figure in motorsports and former president of the International Automobile Federation (FIA), was appointed as the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Road Safety in 2014. In this role, he advocates for road safety and works towards reducing road accidents and fatalities worldwide.
It is recalled that in 2023, Her Excellency Dr. Fatima Maada Bio received an appointment to the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Road Safety Advisory Board. Dr. Fatima Maada Bio, an accomplished rights activist and humanitarian, has been actively involved in various initiatives aimed at improving healthcare and education in Sierra Leone since her husband’s election as President in 2018.
This visit marks an important step towards strengthening collaboration between Sierra Leone and international organizations working towards improving road safety. Therefore, it is expected that discussions will focus on potential strategies for enhancing Sierra Leone’s system through international partnerships and initiatives.
