A major political upset has erupted in the Asawase Constituency as more than 200 NPP delegates staged a dramatic declaration at the Kumasi Central Mosque on Monday, announcing their full support for firebrand presidential hopeful Hon. Kennedy Agyapong and openly rejecting the prospects of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

In a fiery press briefing, the delegates proclaimed that only Kennedy Agyapong has the toughness, the vision, and the credibility to return the NPP to power in the 2028 general elections.

Spokesperson Kwabena Boateng, a polling station executive at Parkoso, did not mince words.
He delivered a blistering critique of Dr. Bawumiaβs electoral performance in Asawase during the 2024 polls, arguing that the results proved the former Vice President had lost touch with the grassroots.

Boateng claimed that even after financing the reconstruction of the Kumasi Central Mosque, Bawumia failed to win a single polling station within the mosqueβs own precincts; a result he described as βa loud rejectionβ by the people.
βThe 2024 elections spoke clearly. The people of Asawase simply do not want Bawumia,β Boateng declared, drawing loud murmurs of agreement from the gathered delegates.
He contrasted this with what he called Kennedy Agyapongβs βfearless leadership,β βunmatched business acumen,β and βrelentless commitment to the Ghanaian youth.β
The delegates praised Agyapong as a job creator, a philanthropist, and a no-nonsense leader, insisting that his expansive business ventures both in Ghana and abroad make him the candidate most capable of tackling unemployment head-on.
βIf Kennedy becomes President, Asawase youth will work. There will be jobs; real jobs,β Boateng emphasized.
The declaration; bold, public, and unusually confrontational has sent ripples through the political landscape, signaling what may be the opening shots of a heated 2028 NPP flagbearer battle.
