Sierra Leone’s 1st Lady Fatima Maada Bio writes

I was deeply honored to attend the 50 Most Influential Sierra Leonean Women Award ceremony last night at the Freetown International Conference Center, a celebration that went beyond recognizing the achievements of women past and present. The event acknowledged the strength and resilience of women in society, highlighting their indispensable contributions.

The ceremony brought together remarkable women from diverse backgrounds who have made a lasting impact in their respective fields. The presence of notable figures, including the former Vice President of The Gambia, Madam Fatoumata Tambajang, added to the significance of the occasion.

I was humbled to receive an award of recognition as one of the 50 Most Influential Women in Sierra Leone, acknowledging my efforts in empowering and protecting women and girls in Sierra Leone. Additionally, I was privileged to accept an award on behalf of His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio, recognizing his commitment to upholding democracy and good governance in our country as the HeForShe President.

This event served as a powerful reminder that women’s voices are not just valuable, they are essential. It was a testament to the progress made and a call to continue working towards a more inclusive and equitable society.
