The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Linda Ocloo, has led a high-powered delegation of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) and Members of Parliament to present assorted food items to the Ga Traditional Council (GTC) in support of this year’s Homowo Festival, which will be celebrated this weekend.

The donation, made on behalf of the President, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, comprised 100 bags of maize, 100 gallons of palm oil, 113 crates of beer, crates of soft drinks, malt, and Guinness, among others , as well as an undisclosed amount of money.

Speaking before the presentation, Hon. Ocloo thanked the GTC for receiving the delegation on short notice and conveyed the President’s goodwill for a peaceful and successful festival.

She explained that the gesture was part of government’s commitment to supporting the preservation of cultural heritage and promoting community togetherness.

Receiving the items, the Ga Mantse, His Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, expressed gratitude to the President, the Regional Minister, MPs, the Mayor of Accra, the MMDCEs, and other dignitaries while extending condolences to the government and the families affected by the recent military helicopter crash.

He assured that the items would be distributed fairly to ensure that every household could partake in this year’s celebrations.

Speaking after the presentation in an interview, the Mayor of Accra, Hon. Michael Kpakpo Allotey urged that the Homowo celebration be marked with peace and unity, free from any form of distraction.
