

Sierra Leone’s President and Chairperson of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, Julius Maada Bio, held a high-level meeting today with Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye during a working visit to the West African nation.


In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, President Bio described the engagement as “very constructive,” emphasizing the importance of regional unity and cooperation within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).


“Today in Senegal, I had a very constructive meeting with His Excellency Bassirou Diomaye Faye,” President Bio stated. “My working visit to this subregion as Chairperson of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government has truly highlighted our shared commitment to reinforcing our regional community.”

The two leaders reportedly discussed strategies for tackling regional challenges and strengthening economic ties among member states.
“Together, we are focused on addressing challenges and fostering enhanced cooperation that will lead to greater economic prosperity for all,” Bio added, expressing optimism about closer collaboration between their administrations.

The visit underscores Bio’s ongoing efforts to revitalize ECOWAS amid growing calls for regional stability, economic integration, and collective action on security and governance issues.
