In a powerful show of respect, political presence, and cultural pride, Ghana’s Minister for Energy, Hon. Abdulai Jinapor, lit up the Damba Festival in the Debre Traditional Area with a high-profile courtesy call on the revered Jira Debre-Wura Sulwa Adanabatu Boresa II.

The visit, which comes amid the vibrant celebrations of Northern Ghana’s most iconic festival, was more than ceremonial. It was deeply political and passionately personal.

Taking to his official Facebook page, Hon. Jinapor expressed profound gratitude to the Overlord and the people of Debre for what he described as their “unwavering support.” His words were clear, heartfelt, and loaded with promise.

But the real headline? A bold reaffirmation of the NDC’s deep-rooted ties with the community and a resounding message from former President John Dramani Mahama. Jinapor did not mince words:

“I reiterated His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to their community and reassured them of the NDC’s continuous engagement at all times.”

The message sent ripples through the gathering, marking not just a cultural connection, but a strategic political alignment ahead of a charged political season.

Observers see Jinapor’s presence at the Damba Festival as a powerful symbol of the NDC’s intent to maintain its stronghold in the region. And in a time where traditional leadership and political power increasingly intersect, this was no ordinary courtesy call. It was a statement.

As the drums of Damba echo through the north, so too does the message: the NDC is here, engaged, and ready.
