Mustapha Gbande, the Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has leveled serious accusations against the former government of Akufo-Addo.

During an appearance on Onua FM’s “Yen Nsempa” on January 9, 2025, Gbande asserted that the previous administration had installed listening devices in the Jubilee House, the official presidential residence, before their departure.

He alleged that this action was intended to monitor the incoming administration under President John Dramani Mahama. “We received information that as they were leaving, they bugged the premises to collect information on the NDC and the new government.

They are malicious individuals,” Gbande claimed.

Gbande elaborated that President Mahama’s postponement in relocating to the Jubilee House was due to ongoing security assessments.

He also mentioned that spiritual cleansing rituals are being conducted to purify the location. “We had malevolent individuals in power, so we need to cleanse and purify the area. Security evaluations are underway to ensure the safety of the President and his team,” he stated.

Additionally, Gbande expressed concern over the former president, Nana Akufo-Addo, who reportedly took his own chair with him during travels. He questioned the rationale behind this behavior, suggesting it was peculiar.

“Why did Akufo-Addo bring his own chair everywhere? Shouldn’t this be investigated by the nation?” he inquired.

He supported President Mahama’s choice to continue working from his office in Cantonments, explaining that efforts are being made to secure and reorganize the Jubilee House.

“It’s perfectly reasonable for the President to still be operating from his previous office. Steps are being taken to reset and allocate offices,” Gbande clarified.

Currently, President Mahama remains in his former office, awaiting the go-ahead to move into the Jubilee House.
