In a dramatic turn of events following heated protests at the CMB Lorry Station, the Mayor of Accra, Hon. Michael Kpakpo Allotey, has shut down swirling rumors of a land takeover by a private developer, calling the claims baseless and fraudulent.

Standing firm at the heart of the controversy, Mayor Allotey declared, “Not today or tomorrow…no one is taking your lorry station!”, sending a strong message to both aggrieved traders and would-be developers.

With the backing of President John Dramani Mahama, the Mayor exposed what he described as a deceptive ploy, warning the so-called buyer to “go and reclaim their money” from whoever sold them the land. “There will be no construction here,” he said firmly.
The Mayor’s visit follows growing unrest after rumors of a sale sparked panic and protest. But with tensions cooling, drivers and traders have now rallied behind him, even issuing an apology for not seeking clarity earlier.
