The Management Team of the National Identification Authority (NIA), led by its Executive Secretary, Mr. Wisdom Kwaku Deku, today paid a courtesy visit to former Executive Secretary, Professor Kenneth Agyemang Attafuah, in recognition of his distinguished service and enduring contributions to Ghana’s national identity system.

Professor Attafuah served as Executive Secretary of the NIA from 2008 to 2009, and again from 2017 to 2024, during which he played a pivotal role in transforming the Authority and laying the foundation for Ghana’s modern national identification infrastructure.

During the visit, Professor Attafuah expressed heartfelt appreciation and engaged the current leadership in a candid exchange of ideas.

He encouraged Mr. Deku and his team to uphold a harassment-free work environment, maintain high standards of integrity, enhance service delivery, prioritize data security, and pursue financial sustainability for the Authority.

The visit forms part of a broader initiative by the current NIA leadership to honour past leaders and tap into their experience and insights to build a more robust, future-ready national identity system for Ghana.

Executive Secretary Mr. Deku described the meeting as “both inspiring and instructive,” reaffirming the Authority’s commitment to continuous improvement and institutional excellence.
