Survey by Global Infoanalytics which suggested 48.1% as voters preference for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as NPP flagbearer for 2028 general elections has brought to bare a fresh development.
Though the data indicates Bawumia still remains popular among voters for the NPP flagbearer position, further drill has unmasked that, 20% of the figure represents NDC voters who actually prefer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia leading the party in the 2028 general elections.
Pollster cum Executive Director and Lead Researcher of Global Infoanalytics, Mussa Dankwah has asserted that aside it being a representation of NDC voters, it may also represent a tactical voting by the NDC for the NPP to elect somebody they can easily defeat.
Speaking on a Metro TV program dubbed “Inside Page”, the pollster advised that, the data should be looked at with much caution, saying that the survey may mean that majority of NDC feel Bawumia is a weak candidate to defeat.
“The data must be read with caution and really drilled down”, he said.
The survey also suggested Hon. Kennedy Agyapong as the next preferred candidate to Bawumia with a score of 25% and former Minister for Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum with 12.5%.
Other candidate who expressed interest in the forerunner position in the 2024 like Kwabena Agyapong scored 7.2% and Francis Addai Nimo scoring 3.0%.
The poll showed that of the size candidates, former Agriculture Minister, Brian Acheampong was the fifth favourite with a score of 4.1%.
