NPP’s 2024 Vice Presidential candidate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has made a generous donation of food items to mental health patients and vulnerable children in Kumasi.

This happened on Monday, 9th June 2025 at the Edweanse Rehabilitation Center, Cheshire Rehabilitation Home and the Kumasi Children’s home.

The items which included 30 bags of rice, 9 bags of maize, 9 bags of beans, 18 bags of sugar, 9 bags of gari, 30 boxes of tinned tomatoes, 18 boxes of cooking oil, 30 boxes of canned meat, 30 packs of assorted soft drinks and 30 boxes of biscuits were shared among the three facilities.

The donation by Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, a.k.a Napo was carried out intermittently, aimed at showcasing his love and support for the beneficiaries.

It is on record to be a yearly support from the political figure cum philanthropist and a gesture done by him three times each year.

For twenty years, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has been donating to the facilities including drugs, sandals, books, among others.

Making a presentation at the Kwadaso Edweanse Rehabilitation Center, Napo recalled that his support dates back when he was in medical school.

He said he always prays for God’s blessings so that he will be able bless others in return.

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh pledged to visit them often to offer them more support.

Manager for Edweanse Rehabilitation Center, Rita Adjei thanked him for the items.

She testified that the numerous donations by Napo is not premised on a political interest, saying “it’s his way of life”.

Rita Adjei underscored the gesture as a great relieve to management of the center.

Public Health Officer at Cheshire Rehabilitation Home, Harriet Osei-Wusu, also expressed gratitude.

“We can’t thank him enough”, she remarked in an interview with newsmen.

She described Dr. Napo as a great pillar of support to them, adding that “he always responds without hesitation anytime we call on him for help”.

Assistant Manager for Kumasi Children’s Home, Cletus Frimpong Osei Kwarteng also thanked Dr. Napo for reaching out to the children of the home.
