On 15th of October, 2024, I had the privilege of participating in the high-level World Humanitarian Forum, hosted by Baroness Gohir OBE, where global leaders gathered to discuss the critical theme, ‘𝐀𝐝𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐬: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐇𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐃𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐄𝐫𝐚.’
As the First Lady of Sierra Leone, a nation that has overcome its own past of conflict, I am deeply committed to advocating for peace and humanitarian support for those affected by war.
This forum serves as a powerful reminder that we must continue to work collectively to heal the wounds of conflict and restore dignity to millions in need.
I emphasized that peace is not just the absence of war; it is the foundation upon which human progress rests.
“Humanitarian aid is the lifeblood for countless individuals trapped in conflict zones, offering hope when all seems lost.
But beyond providing immediate relief, we must focus on long-term solutions that rebuild shattered communities and empower them to thrive once again. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that no one, regardless of where they are, is forgotten in the global quest for peace.” Let us strengthen our efforts and stand united for a future where peace reigns and humanitarian aid reaches every corner of the world.
