Officials of MTN-Ghana-Northern Business District have held a dinner and awards night to crown the celebration of 15 years of impactful Mobile Money service in Ghana.
It happened in Kumasi at Golden Bean hotel on Saturday, 30th November, 2024 and was focused at honoring top-performing partners, agents and merchants who exhibited exceptional services towards the growth of MTN MoMo.
The awards covered Ashanti, Ahafo, Bono East and Bono regions.
Ashanti Region
For Ashanti region, Franko Prestige Ventures won the first position. He was awarded a brand new motorbike and a cash prize of GHs 20,000.
Osuani Boakye Ventures placed 2nd, winning a cash prize of GHs 8,000.
Amegble Enterprise occupied the 3rd position and also earned GHs 3,000.
Ahafo Region
Ernestina Ultimate Venture won the 1st position, taking home GHs 20,000/Motorbike
Baba Sule Ventures (2nd position, cash prize GHs 3,000)
Brother’s 04 Ventures (3rd position, GHs 2,000).
Bono East
EMRYS Ventures (1st position, GHs 20,000/motorbike)
GOD is Good Business (2nd position, GHs 3,000)
Excellence Job Gin Enterprise (3rd position, GHs 2,000)
Bono Region
Hanpok 88 Enterprise (1st position, GHs 20,000/motorbike)
Erekies Enterprise (2nd position, GHs 3,000)
Peter Enterprise (3rd position, GHs 2,000).
Francis Osei, CEO for Franko Prestige was also crowned the top agent for the Northern Business District.
He received the prestigious award in the overall agent category, which came with a lucrative package consisting GHs 20,000.00 cash prize, a brand-new motorbike and a commemorative plaque.
In his remarks, he thanked the Board and Management of MTN Mobile Money Limited for the award.
He said he has been in the momo business for many years and started with only GHs 3,000.
“Through dedication, humility and good customer relations, I have won several awards for the years 2020, 2022 including the Best Momo Agent for the year 2019.”, he told the newsmen in an interview on the sidelines of the event.
Addressing the occasion, General Manager for the Northern Business District, Nii Adotey Mingle announced that MTN Momo has since its inception contributed significantly to Ghana’s Fintech industry.
Among them are direct and indirect employment of Ghanaians, improved government revenue, creation of digital entrepreneurs, adding that momo has brought dignity to many Ghanaians through the transformative power of financial inclusion.
He acknowledged the challenges MTN MoMo faced in its early stages and highlighted its significant contribution to Ghana’s economy.
Looking ahead, Mr. Mingle outlined MTN MoMo’s future strategies, emphasizing the importance of embracing emerging technologies to enhance services and meet the growing demands of the financial sector.
He noted the explosive potential of Ghana’s fintech industry and emphasized the significant opportunities in areas such as digital payments, cross-border payments, insurance, investments, and e-commerce.
