MTN Ghana has once again raised the bar for corporate communication standards in the country, securing three prestigious awards at the 2023/2024 IPR Ghana Excellence Awards.

The feat not only highlights the company’s dominance in the PR space but also signals a broader shift in how strategic communication is shaping competitiveness within Ghana’s telecommunications industry.

The company’s sixth consecutive win as PR Organisation of the Year (Telecommunications) underscores its sustained leadership and the consistency of its communication strategy in an industry defined by rapid change and high customer expectations.

MTN Ghana’s recognition for Best in Crisis and Issues Communications further positions the organisation as a model for responsible corporate behaviour.

In an era where misinformation spreads quickly and crises demand swift, credible responses, the company’s ability to communicate transparently and maintain public trust stood out strongly to the Institute.

The introduction of the Best in Corporate Communications category won for the first time by MTN Ghana marks a significant milestone.

The award highlights the company’s comprehensive approach to communication, ensuring alignment between internal culture and external messaging at a time when businesses are increasingly evaluated on authenticity and purpose.

According to Adwoa Wiafe, Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer, the wins reflect MTN Ghana’s long-term investment in communication as a strategic asset.

She noted that the recognition “reaffirms MTN Ghana’s dedication to deepening trust, enhancing engagement, and shaping meaningful connections” across all stakeholder groups.

Georgina Asare Fiagbenu, Senior Manager, Corporate Communications, emphasised the team’s commitment to continuous improvement, adding that the awards motivate them to “keep raising the bar” in telling MTN’s story with clarity and empathy.

This year’s National PR Summit, held from 13th to 15th November at the Western Plus Serene Atlantic Hotel in Takoradi brought together practitioners from across the country to discuss the future of communication under the theme, “Imagining PR in the Contemporary World.” Against this backdrop, MTN Ghana’s sweep serves as a case study in how strategic communication can drive organisational leadership, build reputation, and influence industry standards.
