The Leadership Empowerment Club (LEC Group) through partnership with MTN Ghana has held Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology’s version of the 2025 edition of the National Youth Empowerment Summit and Awards.
Â
It happened on Saturday, 28th June, 2025 at the hall of the law faculty, KNUST.
Speakers for the event were drawn from the Africa’s largest mobile network operator (MTN), GCB PLC Bank, Invest Corp and Bel Beverages Company Limited.
This year’s summit was the 4th edition since its inception, aimed at empowering young people with practical skills, motivation and mentorship to become successful in life.
It is also focused on entreprenurial training and leadership development for young people in Ghana and across Africa.
Â
The foregoing perfectly aligns with MTN Ghana’s mentorship programs which offer support for young people in Ghana, particularly focusing on digital skills, career guidance, and entrepreneurship.
These programs aim to bridge the gap in access to technology, provide career pathways, and equip youth with tools they need to succeed.
SUMMIT
Knowledge and experiences shared by speakers at the summit offered participants, practical tips on investment, networking, mentorship, discovering ones purpose in life, developing attitude of gratitude and stretching towards their goals.
In her presentation on the latter, Rosemary Atta Konadu, Head of Retail Shop, MTN Ghana urged attendees to STRETCH to reach their goals.
Breaking it down, she challenged them to be sensitive to time management, ensure effective execution of all skills and knowledge acquired, be resourceful, collaborate with right people and have assurance of hope for their future.
She was saddened by the fact that, most youth are not stretching enough, saying “they are comfortable in their zones.
They want to make it but don’t want to go that extra mile”.
INVESTMENT
The Chief Executive Officer for LEC Group, Albert Prempeh Kusi urged participants to develop an investment mentality.
He expatiated that, young people must do that by investing portion of whatever money that comes their way.
“In doing that, they will be able to achieve so much in life. They shouldn’t spend all monies that come their way.
They must focus on building wealth in the long term by putting a portion of their money aside.”
Albert Prempeh Kusi lamented over how majority of youth are not inclined to investment.
“They spend everything thinking they will always have money in abundance.
Many Africans are broke because of this.”, he said.
