MTN Ghana has announced a substantial investment of $245 million in 2025 towards the enhancement of its network infrastructure and IT systems nationwide.

The move is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to expand coverage, increase 4G capacity, and modernize its technological framework.

According to the Ashanti Regional Operations Manager, Mr. Dickson Amoung-yan, the investment encompasses several key areas, including:

  • Coverage Expansion across new and underserved communities
  • 4G Capacity Enhancement to support growing data demands
  • Radio Unit (RU) Modernization to improve network performance
  • Fibre Infrastructure Expansion, with a strong emphasis on network resilience

As part of the rollout, MTN has begun extending network coverage to 14 new sites within the Ashanti Region.

Beneficiary areas include Kotei, Buokrom, Fankyenebra, Agogo, Mampong, among others.

These expansions are being driven by the rapid development of new settlements in these localities, increasing the demand for robust and reliable connectivity.

Speaking at the 2025 Media and Stakeholder Forum, held at the Lancaster Hotel in Kumasi on Thursday, August 28, Mr. Amoung-yan revealed that 1,328 kilometers of resilient fibre infrastructure have been deployed in the Ashanti Region alone.

This backbone is designed to enhance network stability, reduce latency, and enable higher data throughput across both rural and urban areas.

He emphasized MTN’s commitment to addressing existing service challenges, noting that resources have been specifically allocated to resolve performance issues and improve the customer experience.

The investment aligns with MTN Ghana’s broader strategic objectives to lead digital transformation and prepare its infrastructure for the anticipated surge in data consumption and emerging technologies.
