Hon. Seth Osei-Akoto set the tone for this year’s Farmers’ Day in Atwima Mponua with a stirring tribute to the district’s food producers, declaring farmers the lifeblood of local development as the 41st celebration unfolded at Baniekrom on Friday, 4th December 2025.

This year’s ceremony placed strong emphasis not only on honouring farmers but also on reinforcing the partnership between local food producers and the leaders who shape agricultural policy.

The event drew together traditional rulers, assembly members, religious leaders, and residents who came to celebrate the resilience and achievements of farmers across the district.

In his address, Hon. Osei-Akoto highlighted the critical role farmers play in sustaining food security and supporting the district’s socio-economic development.

He acknowledged the tough realities farmers face ranging from high input prices to unpredictable weather conditions but commended them for their unwavering dedication.
He further pledged to intensify advocacy in Parliament to secure better support systems for farmers.
These include increased access to quality inputs, enhanced agribusiness opportunities, and road and market infrastructure improvements to help farmers transport their produce more efficiently.
According to him, improving the agricultural value chain remains central to uplifting livelihoods in Atwima Mponua.
A major highlight of the day was the presentation of awards to outstanding farmers under various categories: Overall Best Farmer, Best Livestock Farmer, Youth in Agriculture, Women in Agriculture, Best JHS & SHS in Agriculture, and Best Collaborative Farmer.
Award winners received farming tools, inputs, and certificates to encourage continued excellence and productivity.
Many participants expressed appreciation for the recognition and the MP’s commitment, noting that his engagement reflects a genuine desire to promote agricultural growth in the district.
Farmers also emphasized that the encouragement received inspires them to keep working toward a more food-secure and prosperous Atwima Mponua.
The 41st Farmers’ Day celebration ultimately stood out as a reaffirmation of the vital importance of agriculture, strengthening the collective resolve of both farmers and leadership to drive sustainable development and enhance community wellbeing.
