Member of Parliament for Kumawu constituency, Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim has heightened efforts aimed at facelifting agriculture in his jurisdiction.
Aside the distributing of bags of fertilizer to over 1,500 farmers, he recently distributed 40,000 improved and certified seedlings comprising 30,600 coconut and 9,400 oil palm to farmers within the Kumawu constituency.
The above support was done through a collaboration with the DCE for Sekyere Kumawu District, Hon. Samuel Addai Agyekum.
The free distribution of the seedlings formed part of government’s flagship programme: “Planting for Export and Rural Development (PERD)”, which is one of the modules of the Planting for Foods and Jobs (PFJ) initiative.
It is a way of promoting rural economic growth and improve household income of rural farmers through the provision of the certified seedlings.
Hon. Ernest Anim has underlined that the support will boost production and also enhance food security.
In an exclusive interview with www.leakyghana.com, he mentioned that he is focused at ensuring that the constituency becomes a leading hub of agriculture in Ghana.
