The Ministry of Education has issued an official statement to dispel false claims circulating on social media regarding the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS). A flyer, which has been widely shared online, inaccurately suggests that placement into second-cycle institutions is based strictly on specific aggregate score ranges.

The Ministry has swiftly refuted these claims, explaining that the CSSPS placement process is based on several criteria, not just aggregate scores. These factors include raw scores, available vacancies in various schools, and the competitiveness of students vying for placement. The Ministry emphasized that a rigid aggregate-based system, as suggested in the flyer, does not reflect the actual process.

In addition to clarifying the process, the Ministry also took the opportunity to address concerns regarding possible corrupt practices. The statement categorically stated that no payments or bribes are necessary to secure placement, and it condemned any attempts to solicit such payments from parents, guardians, or other stakeholders. The Ministry also urged the public to report any instances of bribery or extortion immediately to the authorities.

“The information being spread is completely false and only serves to mislead the public,” said Dr. Clement Abas ApaaK, Deputy Minister for Education. “We want to assure all parents, students, and teachers that the placement process is merit-based, fair, and transparent.”
The Ministry also called on all stakeholders, including the public, to rely exclusively on official communication from the Ministry of Education, the Ghana Education Service (GES), and TVET Services to avoid further confusion and misinformation. Parents and students are encouraged to report any irregularities or attempts to exploit the system to the nearest police station.

In closing, the Ministry reiterated its commitment to maintaining the credibility of the CSSPS and to ensuring a smooth, transparent placement process for all students. “We will continue to uphold the integrity of the system and provide all students with equal opportunities based on merit,” Dr. ApaaK affirmed.
