The Mayor of Accra, Hon. Michael Kpakpo Allotey, has announced a new commission-based incentive scheme for staff of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), who receive salaries from the Internally Generated Fund (IGF).

The initiative forms part of broader reforms aimed at improving staff motivation, enhancing revenue mobilisation, and strengthening overall institutional performance.

Speaking during a staff engagement at the AMA City Hall, Mayor Allotey disclosed that under the new policy, IGF staff who demonstrate diligence and high performance in revenue collection would receive direct financial rewards.

According to the Mayor, the move is part of broader reforms to transform the working culture at AMA and ensure that hardworking staff benefit directly from their contributions.
He said new interventions such as the introduction of 24-hour ticketing would also support the Assembly’s goal to become more efficient and responsive adding that boosting staff welfare was central to his leadership philosophy and promised targeted interventions to support employees during emergencies.
