A storm is brewing on social media, but Bantama MP Francis Asenso-Boakye is not staying silent.

A viral video making the rounds online features a young woman allegedly a student nurse accusing the MP of brushing off concerns about unpaid nursing trainee allowances during the election period.

According to her, Asenso-Boakye allegedly retorted: “If she won’t vote because her allowance has not been paid, then that is fine.”

But in a fiery press release issued on Thursday, Asenso-Boakye categorically denied the accusation, calling it a “false, baseless, and deliberate attempt” to smear his name for political gain.

“I have never had any such encounter or conversation with this individual, nor with any student nurse, regarding allowances,” he fired back.

The MP didn’t stop there. He dropped a fact-check bombshell: there isn’t even a nursing training institution in the Bantama constituency. While the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, which does have a nursing school, is located nearby, it does not fall under his parliamentary jurisdiction.

“In all my years in public service… I have never been responsible for the administration of nursing trainee allowances,” he added, slamming the allegation as a calculated political hit-job.

Asenso-Boakye is now urging the public to disregard the video entirely and has even asked for help identifying the woman behind the claims; a bold move that signals he’s ready to face this controversy head-on.

With political temperatures rising ahead of the next election cycle, this latest saga raises questions: Is this a case of political misinformation weaponized for viral attention, or is there more beneath the surface?

For now, Asenso-Boakye remains defiant and focused, vowing to continue serving the people of Bantama and distancing himself from what he calls “needless political propaganda.”

Stay tuned. This story isn’t over yet.
