Suame Magazine Spare Parts Dealers Association has expressed great displeasure over President John Dramani Mahama’s unfulfilled 2024 campaign promise regarding the introduction of a fixed rate on imported spare parts.

Coupling the aforementioned with the recent appreciation of the Cedi denomination against other foreign currencies, executives of the group say they were expecting the President to implement that policy to ease their burden.

“We are saddened by the fact that the local currency has appreciated against other international currencies but government has not effected the reduction of import levies.”, one spare parts dealer lamented.

Addressing the media on Tuesday, President for the association, Godfred Adu Kofi, Chairman for the association expressed that, payment of killer import levies has imposed great burden on dealers.
Giving more credence to the foregoing, he said that payment for the clearance of Toyota Voxy which was between GHs 35,00.00 and GHs 40,000.0 now stands between GHs 50,000.00 and GHs 60,000.00.

The Chairman has therefore pleaded on the President to address the situation by fulfilling his campaign promise so as to save their business.
