The Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Richard Ofori-Agyemang Boadi, has fired the starting gun for an ambitious year, declaring sanitation reform, digital transformation, and aggressive investment promotion as top priorities for the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA).

At a high-level New Year meeting with management, held alongside the Metropolitan Coordinating Director, Mr. Francis Dwira Darko, the Mayor delivered a clear message: Kumasi must raise its standards, modernize its operations, and position itself as a prime destination for business and innovation.

Describing sanitation as a non-negotiable priority, Hon. Boadi called for intensified efforts to keep the metropolis clean, stressing that a healthier city is the foundation for economic growth.

He also pledged renewed attention to staff welfare and motivation, noting that a highly motivated workforce is essential to driving results and restoring public confidence in local governance.

In a strong push toward modernization, the Mayor urged management to fully exploit the digital space to revolutionize service delivery, improve communication with residents, and showcase Kumasi’s vast economic and cultural opportunities to investors.

The New Year engagement went beyond the boardroom, as the Mayor and Mr. Darko toured selected departments and offices under the Assembly, personally interacting with staff, assessing operational challenges, and rallying workers to support the administration’s bold vision for the city.

Heads of Departments used the opportunity to outline their action plans for the year, aligning their strategies with the Assembly’s development agenda and the Mayor’s call for results-driven governance.

The message from City Hall was unmistakable: Kumasi is gearing up for a year of decisive action, innovation, and transformation.
