In a rare and deeply reflective public statement, renowned Islamic scholar and governance advocate, Dr. Abdul-Muhsin Baafi, has commended the Minister for the Interior, Hon. Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, for what he described as an “exemplary demonstration of leadership, integrity, and public accountability” during today’s sitting of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

Dr. Baafi, who serves as Director of the Leading-Edge Group, took a principled stance in his commentary, urging Ghanaians to take note of the quiet revolution happening under Hon. Muntaka’s leadership; one rooted not in political spectacle, but in consistent results, fiscal prudence, and ethical service.
“In an era where public trust in institutions continues to erode, it is refreshing and indeed, necessary to acknowledge leadership that rises above the norm. Hon. Muntaka’s performance before the PAC was not just impressive; it was inspiring,” Dr. Baafi stated.

According to the scholar, the Minister’s presentation backed by sector heads, CEOs, and Directors displayed uncommon coordination, clarity of purpose, and a firm grasp of responsibility.
Of particular note were the Ministry’s efforts in recovering debts, protecting the public purse, and demonstrating a commitment to internal financial discipline.
“What we witnessed was not a performance to impress, but a report grounded in measurable impact. This is what public service should look like accountable, transparent, and effective.”
Dr. Baafi emphasized that leadership in Islam is a trust (Amanah), and those who hold positions of authority are expected to govern with justice, competence, and sincerity. He cited Hon. Muntaka’s stewardship of critical institutions, including the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Immigration Service, and the Ghana National Fire Service as clear evidence of a leader guided by principle and focused on legacy.
The scholar did not limit his praise to the Minister alone. He extended appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama for what he called a “wise and discerning appointment,” stating that the President’s trust in Hon. Muntaka is being rewarded with results that serve the nation as a whole.
“Ghana does not lack talent. It often lacks principled leadership. Today, we saw both meet in Hon. Muntaka. Let this be a reminder that public service is a sacred duty, and those who honour it must be honoured in return,” he concluded.
Dr. Baafi’s remarks are already gaining traction in policy circles, civil society, and among faith-based organizations that have long advocated for moral leadership in government.
As the Interior Minister continues his work, this public endorsement from one of the nation’s respected Islamic scholars adds a moral and intellectual weight to what is fast becoming a celebrated example of what effective, value-driven governance can achieve.
