As tensions continue to escalate in the Middle East, former U.S. Special Operations intelligence analyst Brett Velicovich has issued a stark assessment of Iran’s current military posture, warning that Tehran is nearing the end of its defensive capabilities.
In an appearance on Fox News, Velicovich said, “Iran is clearly starting to run out of weapons. The intel now is showing that they are running out of defenses.” He pointed to recent Iranian strikes on Tel Aviv as evidence, noting that they are “getting less and less lethal,” a sign of what he described as a deteriorating capacity to wage war.
Velicovich argued that this moment presents a critical opportunity for decisive action, stating, “Their backs are against the wall and I think now is definitely the time to finish it.” He further warned that inaction, particularly when it comes to Iran’s nuclear infrastructure carries significant risk. “Doing nothing against these nuclear sites is carrying major risk,” he cautioned.
These comments come amid increasing alarm over Iran’s nuclear ambitions and a recent uptick in regional hostilities. U.S. and Israeli officials have reported a noticeable decline in the sophistication and impact of recent Iranian missile attacks, suggesting Iran’s resources may be dwindling under the pressure of ongoing sanctions and military responses.
