Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, H.E. Victor Smith, has met with members of the Ghanaian business community and other stakeholders in Savannah, Georgia, as part of ongoing efforts to deepen diaspora engagement and support national development initiatives.

The engagement was held as an open forum in an informal dining environment, allowing for direct and candid interaction between the Ambassador and Ghanaian professionals living in the United States.

The relaxed setting encouraged open discussion and the free exchange of ideas, distinguishing the meeting from a traditional diplomatic briefing.

Participants used the platform to express concerns about the difficulties they face when attempting to invest or conduct business in Ghana, particularly in navigating government institutions and accessing the right channels.

Ambassador Smith acknowledged these frustrations and addressed broader issues related to governance and economic coordination.

He emphasized that the success of Ghana’s economic agenda is closely tied to the involvement of the diaspora, describing their contribution as essential to national development.

To demonstrate his commitment, the Ambassador urged potential investors to reach out to him directly when they encounter obstacles.

“If anyone gives you tough time, call me personally when you are unable to meet the right people; that’s why I’m here,” he said.

Discussions were calm but forthright, with moments of lively exchanges reflecting strong interest from participants.

Attendees also sought clarity on issues of public interest, investment opportunities, and bilateral cooperation.

Ambassador Smith underscored the importance of sustained dialogue, trust, and continuous engagement between Ghana’s diplomatic mission and Ghanaians abroad.

The Savannah engagement forms part of a broader outreach strategy by Ghanaian diplomatic officials to strengthen relationships with the diaspora and ensure their perspectives are reflected in Ghana’s national development discourse.
