In a remarkable show of support for education and student welfare, Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced that all 2,207 newly admitted Senior High School (SHS) students in his constituency will receive free mattresses and chop boxes.

The announcement was made via his official Facebook page, where the MP emphasized his commitment to eliminating financial barriers that often prevent students from accessing quality education.

“All my beloved 2,207 fresh North Tongu SHS students don’t have to worry about buying mattresses and chop boxes. Their MP has got them covered for FREE,” Hon. Ablakwa stated.

In addition to the student support package, Hon. Ablakwa also revealed that the five SHSs within the North Tongu constituency are undergoing major infrastructural upgrades, including the construction of new, large-scale dining halls and dormitories to accommodate the growing student population.

“Every barrier shall be removed; no one must drop out,” he declared, reaffirming his long-standing vision for equitable access to education in the district.
This initiative forms part of what the MP describes as the continuation of the “North Tongu tradition”; a reference to his legacy of educational empowerment and social interventions under the hashtags #TogbeWorgbedziCares and #NorthTonguRising.
The move has received widespread praise from constituents and education stakeholders, many of whom have lauded the MP’s proactive efforts to ensure that no child is left behind due to economic hardship.
In closing his post, Hon. Ablakwa dedicated the gesture to the service of “God and Country,” underscoring the patriotic and humanitarian values that guide his leadership.
