The Chief of Staff, Hon. Julius Debrah, has led the send-off of the first batch of 121 Ghanaian health workers to Antigua and Barbuda under the Government of Ghana’s three-year Labour Exchange Programme.

In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, Hon. Debrah described the initiative as a strategic programme grounded in strong bilateral cooperation in the health sector, aimed at promoting skills exchange and addressing critical nursing shortages abroad.

The health workers, mainly nurses, are expected to provide essential services in Antigua while gaining valuable international exposure that will further enhance their professional capacity and global competitiveness.

The hardworking Chief of Staff commended the deployed health professionals for their dedication and commitment to national service, noting that their participation reflects Ghana’s strength in training world-class healthcare workers.

He urged the nurses to represent the country with excellence, encouraging them to “travel safely, serve boldly, and excel proudly” as they take up their international assignments.

The Labour Exchange Programme is part of the government’s broader agenda to create employment opportunities, deepen international partnerships, and strengthen Ghana’s presence in the global health workforce.
