Roads Minister, Hon. Francis Asenso-Boakye has handed over the 119km Berekum-Sampa Road project to Rango Construction Company Limited.
This project, a flagship initiative under the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration, is crucial as it links Berekum to the border town of Sampa, passing through important cashew-growing communities like Jinijini, Japekrom, Drobo, Dwenem, Seketia, and Suma Ahenkro.
It will greatly improve access to markets, healthcare, and education, reduce travel time and costs, and facilitate trade with neighboring La Cote d’Ivoire.
The handing over of the project happened at a durbar held at Jinijini of the Berekum West district during his tour of the Bono region.
According to Hon. Asenso-Boakye, the successful completion of the project will further enhance the region’s infrastructure, complementing other already completed road projects such as the Asphaltic overlay of Selected Roads (25km), Construction of Nkrankrom, Wawasua Estate, and Penkwase Roads (19.70km), as well as the Upgrading of Menji-Bui Road and Dormaa Ahenkro – Baabianiha Feeder Road (11.30km), among others.
