On Saturday, May 18th, 2024, the KNUST Mechanical Engineering Students Association (MESA) witnessed a landmark moment in its history as President Acheampong Takyi Desmond officially inaugurated the MESA Tratech Club. This pioneering initiative aims to empower students with cutting-edge skills in design, manufacturing, robotics, programming, CAD, entrepreneurship, and soft skills.

The inauguration ceremony, held at KNUST College of Engineering Lecture Theatre was graced by distinguished guests, including the SRC Tratech Commissioner, Miss Charity, MESA Executives; Amstrong Donkor(Financial Secretary), Stephen Arhin(General Secretary), Sylvester Amoah(Organizer) and Appointees, Geological department president, and esteemed members of the KNUST community. The event was marked by inspiring speeches, innovative exhibits, and a sense of excitement and possibility.

President Acheampong Takyi Desmond, in his inaugural address, emphasized the importance of vision, determination, and innovation in shaping the future of Mechanical Engineering. He highlighted the club’s objectives, including fostering collaboration, promoting practical skills, and driving entrepreneurship among members.

The MESA Tratech Club, operating under the Tratech Committee, will serve as a hub for students to explore, create, and innovate, with support from GESA Tratech, SRC Tratech, the Ghana Enterprise Agency, Metro Mass Transit Limited, and private companies. This strategic partnership will provide members with access to resources, mentorship, and industry expertise.

The ceremony also featured a keynote speech by Miss Charity, who emphasized the need for innovative thinking and problem-solving in addressing global challenges. The event concluded with a call to action, encouraging students to embrace the opportunities offered by the MESA Tratech Club and shape the future of Mechanical Engineering.
President Acheampong Takyi Desmond thanked the MESA Tratech Committee members; Yoofi Twum Barimah, Afriyie Ishmeal, Maurice Elikem Sunuh, Essandoh Kofi Christian, and Mervyn Dangah Delemwine for being supportive all this while after he formed the Tratech committee last two months.
