Ghana’s hardworking Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Hon. Samuel Nartey George, has reaffirmed his commitment to the reintroduction and passage of the Family Value Bill currently before Parliament.

In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, the Minister disclosed that he appeared on the BBC News Newsday programme on Thursday morning to discuss the Bill, which he and some colleagues have reintroduced to Parliament.

According to him, the Speaker of Parliament earlier this week directed the Business Committee to schedule the Bill for consideration by the House.

Hon. George emphasized that he remains resolute in seeing the legislative process through to its conclusion. He dismissed claims suggesting he had abandoned the Bill, describing such commentary as “politically tainted” and characterizing it as “ignorance dressed as criticism.”

“My fidelity to the reintroduction and going through the entire process of passing the Bill again remains firm,” he stated.

The Minister further pledged to spearhead advocacy efforts for the Bill once it is formally laid before Parliament, as he did in the previous legislative session.

He underscored that his position is guided by his faith and what he described as a commitment to protecting Ghanaian children.

“My fidelity to my faith and my commitment to protecting the innocence of Ghanaian children remain unshaken,” he said, concluding his statement with the phrase, “For God and Country.”

The Family Value Bill, which previously generated significant public debate, is expected to return to the legislative agenda in the coming weeks.
