The Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI) has officially launched the Ashanti Regional chapter of its Women and Youth Wing (GNCCI-WAY), marking a significant milestone in its efforts to empower women and youth in business across the country.

The launch, held on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, took place at the conference hall of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Adum branch in Kumasi. As part of the event, newly appointed coordinators for the regional chapter were also introduced.

The expansion of the GNCCI-WAY initiative to the Ashanti Region aims to support women entrepreneurs and young business leaders by equipping them with entrepreneurial skills, financial literacy, mentorship opportunities, and improved access to funding.

Through these efforts, the GNCCI seeks to foster sustainable business growth and inclusive participation in Ghana’s economic development.

The launch also doubled as a capacity-building platform for members and coordinators, focusing on the tools and knowledge needed to drive impactful change in their respective communities.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the event, Dr. Emelia Assiakwa, First Vice President of the GNCCI, emphasized the importance of nurturing the vast entrepreneurial potential among Ghanaian women and youth.
“Ghanaian youth and women have a wealth of innovative ideas. What they need is structured support to thrive in the business space,” she said. “By empowering them, we can not only grow the national economy but also reduce unemployment and discourage the increasing trend of young people seeking opportunities abroad.”

The Chief Executive Officer of GNCCI, Mr. Mark Badu Aboagye, reiterated the Chamber’s commitment to inclusive economic development. He noted that the Women and Youth Wing was established in recognition of the challenges faced by these groups, who are often sidelined in business.
“Our focus is to create an enabling environment where women and youth can grow their enterprises. The GNCCI continues to work closely with government agencies to influence policy in ways that benefit the broader business community,” he stated.
The launch signals a strong commitment to promoting entrepreneurship and economic inclusivity across the Ashanti Region.
