On Friday, November 8, 2024, a group of selected students from private schools across Ghana, accompanied by staff from the Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS), visited Parliament with a powerful message of peace.
The delegation, led by the National Executive Director of GNACOPS, Obenfo Nana Kwasi Gyetuah, was warmly received by the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin.
The students addressed the Speaker, urging him to use his influential position to promote peace in the lead-up to Ghana’s upcoming general elections.
They emphasized that a peaceful environment is essential for their future, and they expressed hope that the Speaker would continue to champion stability and unity across the country.
Following the students’ message, Obenfo Nana Kwasi Gyetuah, National Executive Director of GNACOPS, reinforced their call for peace. He highlighted the role of children as the nation’s future, stressing that their interests should be at the forefront in fostering a stable and peaceful society. Obenfo Gyetuah commended the Speaker’s ongoing dedication to peace and urged him to use his leadership to support a calm electoral process.
In response, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin expressed his deep commitment to peace, sharing how he has dedicated his entire career—both as a Member of Parliament and now as the Speaker—to promoting harmony and unity. He praised the students’ enthusiasm and took the opportunity to urge their teachers to instill national pride and love for peace in the next generation. The Speaker also commended GNACOPS for their initiative in promoting peace and supporting private education in Ghana, noting that involving young students in peace-building efforts is a valuable contribution to the nation’s future.
This visit to Parliament marks a significant step for GNACOPS in its mission to foster peace and nurture future leaders through education and civic engagement.
